Harris Recruitment Coronavirus Update – January 2021

Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

Coronavirus Update:-

We are here, ready to help & to keep you safe……

We are continuing to stay open during this  current Lockdown, as the Government Guidelines (please see below link to the website) say that people are still allowed to continue to work in their employer’s homes during Lockdown, so as a result we will happily continue to recruit for our clients and place candidates in new positions during this time.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home

We request that, in order to comply with Government guidelines and keep everyone safe, all our candidates and clients agree to follow all the current Government guidelines regarding social distancing and hygiene at all times.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the spread of Covid 19, in addition to our normal candidate interview and update procedure, we’ve created an additional Coronavirus risk assessment questionnaire, which has recently been updated, that we are asking all applicants to complete.

Please see below for the latest relevant Government guidance and a link to the relevant parts of the UK Government website (as the Government guidance is continually changing, we recommend that you regularly check the Government website yourself, for any updates):-

Advice on working in people’s homes as a Housekeeper or Nanny during Coronavirus (COVID-19):

If you are carrying out work in a home such as cleaning or paid-for childcare in a child’s home, you can continue to work, providing that you are well and have no symptoms. No work should be carried out by a housekeeper or nanny who has any of the Coronavirus symptoms, however mild, or if someone in their own household has any symptoms.

During a visit:-

  1. You should notify all clients in advance of your arrival.

  1. On entry to the home you should wash your hands using soap and water for 20 seconds.

  1. You should wash your hands regularly, particularly after blowing your nose, sneezing or

coughing, and when leaving the property.

      4. You should ask for your own towel or disposable towels for you to use at work.

  1.  Where facilities to wash hands are not available, hand sanitiser should be used, and you

should carry this with you at all times.

  1. You should maintain a safe distance (at least 2 metres) from any household occupants at all

times, where possible and ensure good ventilation in the area where you are working,

           including opening the window.

  1. Ask that all internal doors are left open to minimise contact with door handles.

  1.  Do your best to minimise your time spent within the busiest areas in the household, where people

travel to, from or through, for example, the stairs and corridors.

  2. Bring your own food and drink to work with you and take any breaks you may have

           outside, where possible.

  1. If you are looking after children, you should maintain a safe distance (at least 2 metres)

from those household occupants that you are not providing care for as much as possible.

    11. In addition, we also recommend that the candidate should bring a spare pair of shoes to

change into upon arrival & they should also remove their coat & leave their outdoor shoes,

with their coat & handbag in a safe place close to the front door.

If someone in the household is extremely vulnerable

No work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless your work is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, such as emergency plumbing or repair, or if a young child’s parents must attend an emergency hospital appointment.
